Ndong Aweh Hill Trek
This is a lovely trek to the highest peak in Belo; Ndong Aweh hill. The double humped peak dominates the skyline to the North and is a nice 2 hour trek to the summit. Bring a packed brunch and enjoy the fresh air and landscape as you dine at the top. On the way back down you will stop at a craft workshop and see the carver hand-crafting beautiful local craft.

Sacred Lake Oku
Trek from Belo up to the mysterious Lake Oku. Hike through the villages and into the forest where the natural world waits to be discovered. Sit on the shores of the sacred lake without another soul in sight. Swimming is not allowed in the lake as it is believed to be the home of an old man who descended into the lake after being given permission to live there by the Fon of the Oku people. Sacrifices are still made one day a year to the ‘God’ of the lake.

Chiefs Palace Tour
Have an audience with the Fon - Chief of the Kom tribe - at Liakom Palace.
Trek up to the hill-top palace set in the clouds overlooking the Land of Kom. Meet his many wives and children and learn about the culture from the tribal elders. To be granted an audience you need to bring a gift and an offering* but once inside you can remain in the kings court and watch the traditional court cases, tribal matters, or disputes which are being settled that day. The Fon will expect you to stay for some lunch and have a drink with him - the variety of which depends on what gifts the Fon has received that day.
Some areas of the palace are off limits however as a tourist it is possible to pay a little extra to see some of the secret chambers.
Please remember this is a traditional ‘Palace’ of a tribe chief. Do not expect a palace by western standards. It is however one of the most preserved palaces in the country and has not seen the effects of modernization like many of the others.
