Dear Friends,

On March 24 BERUDEP will celebrate its 10th birthday. Since the day we have registered as a non-governmental organization, hundreds of widows, orphans and other underpriveleged groups found hope. We have been successful promoters of sustainable agriculture and other income generating activities. All of this has had a great impact on the local community of Boyo Division and beyond.

BERUDEP's 10th birthday is an event which should not pass unnoticed in the community. We believe it is a good opportunity for the involved groups (widows, bee farmers, etc.) to present themselves. It is also a unique chance to promote beekeeping, vetiver technologies, medicinal plants and BERUDEP itself. A chance to bring our message to the public.
 For these reasons we find it essential to make our birthday a big, memorable event. To make this happen, however, we require funds that we cannot raise without your assistance. Please, consider your support for the following program:

I. The Opening (Njinikom 6 March/ Belo 10 March/ Fundong 14 March)
The ceremony will be officially launched by the D.O. (Divisional Officer).

Activities planned for the opening days:

• display of products by groups cooperating with BERUDEP
• presentation of activities of the groups (lectures, grandstand presentations)
• evaluation of groups/individuals in categories (winners will enter finals in Fundong)
• presentation of BERUDEP

The groups/individuals will be evaluated in the following categories:

Honey Products Competition with Prizes:

• Best CIG (Common Initiative Group)
• Best Beefarm
• Best Honey and Honey By-Product
• Best Wax

Vetiver Technology Competition with Prizes:

• Best CIG (Common Initiative Group)
• Best Farm
• Best Promoter 
• Best Other Uses

Medicinal Plants Competition with Prizes:

• A general competition

II. Sports Games - Football Competition
 Players will be young women and girls, who work for CIGs (Common Initiative Groups)
 and NGOs (Non-governmental Organizations) operating in the Boyo region.
  
III. The Final Day - Fundong
 The final day is scheduled for the 24 of March, the exact date of BERUDEP birthday. 

The activities:

• winners in the above categories will be announced 
• the final football match will take place
• the winner groups and football teams will be awarded prizes

Any further suggestions as to the program are welcome and will be appreciated.

The estimated, total cost of all the BERUDEP Birthday events equals CFA 720,000
(€ 1105 / ? 750 / $ 1390). The sum involves:

• Promotion (radio announcements, press adverts, local sensitization)

• Prizes for winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) in the "Medicinal Plants" category

• Prizes for football teams (1st, 2nd and 3rd)

• Organization of football matches
  CFA 20,000
